The photos below show the locations of the places involved in our opening of the horror film.
 |
| Dining Table - used in the title sequence |
We chose the main location for our film to be an average house, as it can be related to by the target audience.
The dining room is used in the title sequence for when the book is being written.
 |
| Hallway |
The hallway is where the scariest moment of the opening is, as the young girl spots the ghost figure in the mirror. This is an ideal place for this to happen as it is small and narrow and gives a sense of no escape.
 |
| Living room |
The living room was used at the beginning of the film, when the young boy was watching the news and eventually ended up with the argument with the young girl. The living room suggests safety, so this causes fear for the audience. The idea of revealing the man in this way is stereotypical, as they are known for being rather lazy and eating, so we portrayed this stereotype by having the main character first revealed sitting on the chair watchng Tv and eating.
 |
| Kitchen |
The kitchen was used in the film to first reveal the female character. The main female in the film is stereotypically represented as she is shown making a cup of tea in the kitchen. This is an old fashioned representation of women. The kitchen is also used to show a close up of the book in the actual film making the first initial link from the book in the title sequence to the one found on their doorstep. The Kitchen doorway also reveals the ghost like figure.
